Continental Walnut Table with Drawers and Iron Stretchers
The original iron stretchers have an attractive, scrolling shape and provide for additional structural stability. The splayed legs of the trestles are joined by a low, shaped rail. Overall, the piece retains an extraordinary patina, especially on the thick, single-board top which has several old and charming patches. One side has three molded drawers in the frieze. The apron on the reverse is finished and molded similarly to the drawers so the table may free float in a room.
