French Secretaire Cabinet
A beautifully constructed French secretaire cabinet in mahogany. The fall-front drawer opens to reveal a leather-lined writing surface and an interior veneered in Hungarian ash and amaranth with a turned-spindle gallery on the sides. The two cabinet doors are constructed of shaped and molded panels. Behind the doors are three sliding shelves with rosewood fronts. Also with a drawer in the plinth. Raised on turned bun feet. Retaining the makers' label stenciled on the back: Maison Lemarchand and Lemoine, Paris. Provenance: Farnborough Abbey, Hampshire, England.
